Azure Virtual Machines

Compliance-first compute · B2s and D2s_v5 sizing, opened and paid for by us

Azure Virtual Machines are the most general compute unit in Microsoft cloud: run an operating system you still control, inside a Microsoft compliance perimeter. Teams pick Azure over AWS or Alibaba Cloud rarely because the machines are faster, and mostly because it plugs into the Microsoft estate they already run: Microsoft 365 accounts, Entra ID identity, Azure DevOps pipelines and Key Vault secrets are all native. Below: how compliance and identity come together, B versus D series, how the four billing models combine, and region and settlement.

Why enterprises pick Azure VMs: compliance and identity in one place

Azure VMs are plain IaaS — you manage the OS and its patches, and it runs inside a Microsoft compliance perimeter. Azure is audited under ISO/IEC 27001, 27017 and 27701 plus SOC 1/2/3, ships the CIS Azure Foundations Benchmark, and covers PCI DSS and CSA STAR. For health data a signed Microsoft Azure BAA brings the workload into HIPAA scope, which is often the entry requirement for a vendor list.

  • Native Entra ID permissions — RBAC and groups govern access; no second user system per machine
  • Microsoft 365 alignment — accounts, mail and endpoint policy share one identity, and audit logs merge
  • Native Azure DevOps — registries, pipelines, deployment approvals and Bicep work out of the box
  • Key Vault managed identity — secrets arrive over Managed Identity, so keys never touch disk

Sizing: where the B, D and E series end and begin

  • B series (burstable) — billed on a baseline CPU allowance with burst above it; B2s is the usual entry point
  • D series (general purpose) — fixed vCPU-to-memory ratio, higher bandwidth; start at D2s_v5 for networked apps
  • E series (memory optimised) — more memory per vCPU, so databases and caches cost less than on an oversized D instance
  • The temp disk is not persistent — it dies with the instance, so data disks must be separate Managed Disks

How Azure VM billing works: per resource, egress counted separately

Azure bills per resource rather than selling a bundle. The VM meters per second or minute, and the most-missed charges are egress, Managed Disks and public IPs. Traffic between Azure resources in the same region stays on the internal backbone and is not charged.

Azure Hong Kong (East Asia): latency and availability for Asia-Pacific

Hong Kong East Asia is the usual Azure landing zone for Asia-Pacific. Round trips from Hong Kong, Taiwan and Southeast Asia typically fall in the 20–40ms band; Singapore around 30–50ms, Tokyo and Seoul 50–70ms, intercontinental well past 150ms. These are experience ranges — measure before you commit, morning, midday and evening.

Availability zones are independent fault domains: run production across at least two, and confirm your SKU supports zones.

How to open an Azure account and settle billing through us

  1. Contact us with your workload, target region and rough scale (for example "two D2s_v5 in East Asia")
  2. We walk the official Azure subscription registration, company entity and payment verification
  3. Once live you log into the Azure portal yourself; resources and invoices stay entirely yours
  4. In the console: East Asia → pick a size → set a budget alert before starting the VM
  5. Settle by USDT, other crypto or bank transfer, no personal credit card, no personal identity documents

Five mistakes that show up on the bill

  • Forgetting it is not a bundle — an idle test VM left running is the most common leak
  • Ignoring egress — traffic often ends up the largest line on the invoice
  • Running production on Spot — one eviction is one incident
  • Treating the temp disk as a data disk — rebuild the instance and the data is gone
  • Skipping budget alerts — set the ceiling before the first boot

We handle official provisioning and payment verification — no personal card, no identity documents. Order directly in the vendor console once live.
